Getting into Summer! (Week 90)
Hello everyone,
Really quick email
here. I won't report on too much today. This last week was good. Our
investigators are still doing well, and we are finding some more people. This
week we met Anh Thanh, who is a college student. He is very interesting, and he
has a hobby of studying religion! But he doesn't currently believe in God. We
taught him how to pray, and he found it interesting, and is excited to learn
more about God and read the Book of Mormon! We will keep meeting him and he is
really cool!
Oh, and funny story of the week, I contacted a family of seven who
agreed to learn, and then they cancelled because they unexpectedly moved to
Vung Tau. First time I have heard that one. But hopefully they will meet
missionaries someday in Vung Tau. Everyone else is doing about the same. But we
are going to be able to meet everyone more this coming month! As it is summer,
and they all finish testing this week! And Em Cuong said he would ask permission
to get baptized after finishing testing, so prayers for him would be
appreciated! And Em Vy is sharing more with her family. And her family gave me
a rain clothing set, both jacket and pants, so now I can stay dry in rainy
season!
That was really nice of them! Oh, and the best thing this week was Chi
Nhuong passed her baptismal interview! She will get baptized on the 7th of
July! So we are really excited for her! And her husband Max will get to baptize
her!
Also, we had
interviews with President Chiles, and Sister Chiles got to come down too! It
was good to talk to them, and they had some good suggestions, including Sister
Chiles encouraging Elder Bao to practice his English more, so we now have a
goal to one day speak just Vietnamese, and the next day just English, and it is
going pretty well!
And of course President Chiles took us out to dumplings and
we were all stuffed full! It was very good! And I am looking forward to zone
conference this coming Wednesday. The theme will be on the Book of Mormon, so
it will be good!
One other note, it
seems the whole mission down south is getting sick. The sisters here were
pretty sick a week ago, and Elder Bao was having some stomach pain, but is
doing better. And I got a bit of something. I just didn't feel hungry and had a
hard time eating for a few days, but have since recovered, so that is good.
And otherwise I
think that is all. Today we got to celebrate for every companionship in our
district having a lesson set up with a new person every day. We did get stood
up 80% of the time, but I guess that is necessary to have success the other 20%
of the time. But today we celebrated by getting a barbeque buffet, and then
played board games at the church! So that was good. Well, 5:59pm, got to go!
