May is Coming!
Mon, Apr 29, 2019 (Week 82)
Hello everyone!
Super fast email. My companion is starving, and doesn't like
the food at the email shop, so we need to go get him something... But I just
finished talking with my family! They are doing really good! Sounds like
everyone is busy with the end of the school year coming up. Tests and all. And
my sister Kate is setting up her housing and such for BYU, which she will be
going to later this year. Very exciting!
Well, things are going well here in Vietnam. We now have
three investigators with a baptismal date for May. We have Anh Hung and Chi Chi
on track for May 19th! They are so awesome, and we just taught them the law of
tithing. They have really strong faith, and Anh Hung noted the line in Malachi
3 about tithing that says to "take in all the tithes and try the Lord if
he will not open the windows of heaven that you have not room enough to receive
it" (sorry, that is a paraphrase from my memory.) He noted the word
"try". He, like so many others who have come to know the gospel is
true, has been willing to try the word of God. To follow the commandments and
see if the blessings are true. That is the way to know, you need to
"experiment upon the word". And that is when you will see the
blessings. Having knowledge and information is good and important too, but some
things we just have to trust the Lord in and then we will see that our trust is
good. For anyone who is questioning the blessings of the gospel, I invite you
to "try the Lord" and see if the promises are true. Because I know
they are.
We also have Co Hue, who wants to get baptized on the 12th
of May. We are trying to help her solidify her testimony in Jesus Christ and
the resurrection, but we have seen a lot of progress in her, and she loves what
she has learned.
For others, Em Dat should be able to come to church
regularly once he finishes testing in a few weeks! But his father recently got
in an accident and had to go to the hospital, so any prayers for his father are
appreciated. Em Cuong is still doing good, and now has been reading a chapter
from the Book of Mormon and the Bible daily! And Em Vy is doing good, though a
bit busy with school. But she still reads the Book of Mormon regularly, and is
now in Mosiah!
We had a few former investigators come back recently. One,
Anh Dat, was taught over a year ago. Our district leader had us call up former
investigators, and he agreed to meet! He is really cool, and says he is looking
for something to make his life seem happier! And a few others came to church,
and I will tell you more of them next week.
Cool experience at church. First off, the topic was tithing,
and the speakers gave really good insight on sacrifice and why we need to live
the law of tithing. But, something I felt was really cool was that during the
Sacrament, it started to rain. It has not rained here in quite some time. It
was really cool listening to the rain and the calm feeling it brought. I
thought of how God created the Earth with all things we need. And I also
thought of the cleansing property of the rain and how the Sacrament also cleanses
us from sin as we come forth with "a broken heart and a contrite
spirit". I really love partaking of the Sacrament every week as I am on my
journey to improve myself and become more like the Savior, and I know that is
something we can all feel. When you next partake of the Sacrament, try to think
of what it truly means to you.
And that is it for this week. We really need to go now...
